One area of development that has seen the most change in over the past 30 years is in the how cities and watersheds look at the treatment of storm water. While we use a number of consultants and engineers to help design our neighborhoods we need to have a good understand about who is regulating storm water and what issues it could create for our developments. Over the past twenty years or so storm water treatment has gone from using 2-3% of the area of a development to 10-12%. This is a significant cost in land and well as in piping, grading etc. This is not a huge considering when purchasing and developing land.
